Featuring an all-star British cast including Ian McKellen, Gemma Arterton, Mark Strong and Lesley Manville, The Critic is a devilishly clever and darkly compelling thriller set in 1930s London ‘Theatreland’.
Sir Ian McKellen stars as Jimmy Erskine, a feared and vicious theatre critic, who find himself in the crosshairs of the Daily Chronicle’s new owner David Brooke (Mark Strong). Jimmy quickly finds himself amidst a conflict with his new boss, and intwined in a blackmail scheme with struggling young actress Nina Land (Gemma Arterton). The Critic is only in cinemas, from 13th September.
