About ENO's The Magic Flute
Mozart's opera follows the adventures of Prince Tamino and the charismatic bird-catcher Papageno as they attempt to rescue the princess Pamina. To assist their mission, they are given musical instruments enhanced with magical powers, which they deploy to conquer the trials and tribulations placed in their path.
Nothing is as it first appears and as Tamino and Papageno continue their journey they gain a deeper understanding of love and happiness.
Simon McBurney's critically acclaimed production of Mozart's The Magic Flute returns to English National Opera this spring, from 14 March to 11 April.
The cast includes soprano Lucy Crowe as Pamina and tenor Rupert Charlesworth as Tamino, alongside baritone Thomas Oliemans as Papageno and soprano Julia Bauer in the show-stopping role of the Queen of the Night. Ben Gernon makes his ENO debut as conductor.
