Classic FM have teamed up with Tourism Western Australia and Steppes Travel to give away 25 pairs of tickets to see the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s The Reef, an electrifying mix of live music, film and the natural world at the Barbican on 11th March 2017.
ACO Artistic Director Richard Tognetti and a crew of surfers, musicians and filmmakers spent two weeks at the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. Their resulting film captures the pristine coastline, the world's best surfers, the desert landscape and a star-filled sky, as an incredible array of classical and contemporary music swirls around you. Featuring Tognetti and the ensemble renowned as the ‘greatest chamber orchestra on earth’, this is a new kind of concert from a new kind of musician.
To celebrate the everyday extraordinary experiences of the reef, enter our competition to enjoy a performance of The Reef and win a Nikon camera.
At 300-kilometres long, Ningaloo Reef is the largest fringing reef on Earth. You can walk straight off the beach and snorkel in an underwater wonderland filled with brilliant coloured coral, manta rays, dolphins, turtles and more than 500 species of tropical fish. Pristine, spectacular and just another day in Western Australia.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Ningaloo is also one of the few places in the world where you can swim with whale sharks - the world's largest fish. Swimming with these gentle giants, which can grow up to 18 metres long, is an unforgettable experience that is available daily from mid-March to the end of July.
On land the experiences are just as amazing, with the stunning Cape Range National Park home to Australia’s famous outback wildlife too. Spot emus, kangaroos and echidnas on easy bush walks or take a guided boat ride into the towering red gorges to spot the rare black footed rock wallaby and wedge-tailed eagles.
Travelling around the five regions of Western Australia takes you to five very different worlds.

The ACO’s Artistic Director Richard Tognetti says: “There is something about the structuring of music to images that transcends the experience you would have just sitting in a concert hall. And surfing is one of the few sports where you’ve got a real synergy with music.”
